Stations

SonicWeb provides access to more than 2000 internet radio stations. If you are missing a radio station please let me know and it will be quickly added. To show the radio station browser click on "Stations" in the top panel.

Filtering and Sorting

Use the controls on the left hand side of the radio station browser to filter and change the sort order of the displayed radio stations.

Enter a search term into the "Search Stations" input box and press the enter key to search for radio stations. Only radio stations that contain the entered search term will be displayed. To show all stations again clear the input box and press enter again.

Clicking "Popular Stations", "Recommended Stations" or "New Stations" will change the sort order of the displayed list of radio stations. The list will be sorted by popularity, how often they were recommended or when they were added to the radio database.

Select an item below the "Quality" heading to show only stations above or equal to the selected bitrate. Select an item below the "Genre" heading to show only stations of the selected genre.

You can combine the search settings. For example you can search for stations from the Alternative & Punk genre with a quality setting of 128kbps and above and sort the list by popularity.

Radio station entries

A station list entry shows the name, genre, audio format and audio quality of a radio station

Click the name of the radio station to show its radio station details including a list of the already recorded tracks of this station.

Using the buttons along the bottom you can start or stop the radio station, make it a favorite or unfavorite it again, add the station to a station list or delete the radio station.

When you click "Play" a menu will be shown where you can select the listening and recording mode you want to use.

  • Play live. This is usefull when you just want to listen to regular internet radio. SonicWeb will not record what is playing. When you pause playback SonicWeb will disconnect from the radio station and streaming will stop. When you press play again SonicWeb will reconnect to the radio station and continue with playback of live internet radio.
  • Record and split. SonicWeb will playback and record the radio station at the same time. When you pause playback recording will continue, resuming will continue playback without any gaps. The radio stream will be automatically splitted into separate tracks. The individual tracks are added to the track list of the radio station.
  • Record continuously. SonicWeb will playback and record the radio station at the same time. When you pause playback recording will continue, resuming will continue playback without any gaps. The stream will not be split into separate tracks. The single recording will be added to the track list of the radio station.

Favorite radio stations are shown in your favorites list. Click on "Favorites" on the toolbar at the top of the screen to show your favorite list.

Clicking "Add to station list" shows a dialog where you can select the station list the radio station should be added to. Station lists allow you to listen to and record multiple radio stations simultaneously.

When you delete a radio station, it will be removed from your favorite list and your recently played list. The recorded track list will be removed as well. If a track is not part of a track list of another radio station, radio list of playlist it will be permanently deleted.
